LAHORE, Feb 5: A bus driver and a conductor were burnt alive while four passengers, including two children, sustained injuries in a road accident on Motorway on Tuesday morning, 40km from Thokar Niaz Beg.

The accident took place due to poor visibility on Tuesday morning.

A bus bound for some up-country destination, hit a truck and later a car. The bus and the car caught fire which left bus driver Ejaz of Attock and conductor Shahbaz of Mandi Bahauddin dead.

Four passengers Musarrat, Jameela, two-year-old Shoaib and Sufyaan, 7, also sustained injuries, while rest of the passengers saved their lives by jumping from windows.

The two vehicles were burnt completely, but luckily car riders managed to come out before it caught fire.

The rescuers removed the bodies and the injured after cutting the bus body.

Fire: Two security guards suffered burns when a fire broke out in two-storey Habib Metropolitan Bank on Davies Road on Tuesday.

The bank was closed for Kashmir Day holiday, and only security guards were present in the building.

The fire, which erupted owing to short-circuit in manager’s room, engulfed the building within no time and burnt furniture, record and other valuables, said Rescue 1122 officials.

Locals saw smoke coming out of the bank and informed Rescue 1122, fire brigade and Edhi officials.

Fire-fighters took two hours to extinguish the blaze.

Police said four security guards were present inside the bank, of them two escaped unhurt while Ameer, 29, and Yaqoob, 50, got trapped in the building and were injured.
