LAHORE, Feb 4: Another victim of the GPO suicide blast expired at the Mayo Hospital on Monday, taking the death toll to 25.

Allauddin, 45, of Sheranwala Gate, was among those civilians who sustained injuries in the attack. Five days ago, police constable Ramzan, 50, of Raiwind City had succumbed to his injuries in the same hospital.

Allauddin, an employee of a money exchange company, was going to his office near the State Bank building when the incident took place on Jan 10.

His relatives alleged that the doctors showed negligence and mishandled his case.

Khurram who identified him as a relative of the deceased, told newsmen at the city morgue on Monday the doctors had discharged Allauddin some three days ago saying that he was stable and required no further treatment.

On doctors’ advice, he said Allauddin was shifted to home but his condition started deteriorating again.

On Monday, he was again brought to the Mayo in a critical condition, but the doctors allegedly paid no attention to the patient and referred him to the psychiatry department. Khurram said the psychiatrists referred Allauddin back with the advice that there was no need of any psychiatric treatment to him. —Staff Reporter
