KARACHI, Feb 1: Advocate Suhail Anjum, the counsel for Mohajir Qaumi Movement chairman Afaq Ahmed, was freed by his kidnappers on Friday afternoon.
Mr Anjum was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday while he was on his way to the Sindh High Court Bar Association office to participate in a programme organised in connection with the ‘Iftikhar Day’.
After his release, he told Dawn that he was waiting for a bus when a car approached him and its four occupants in black coats offered him to come along as, according to them, they were also going to the venue of the programme. “After a five-minute drive, they blindfolded me and tied up my hands,” he said. However, he said, the kidnappers pushed him out of the vehicle at Wireless Gate on Sharea Faisal at about 2pm on Friday. “Although the kidnappers subjected me to torture, they neither made any demand nor did they interrogate me during the captivity,” he added.—A Reporter
