MIANWALI, Jan 30: Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, Federal Joint Secretary (Finance), died on Tuesday when a container loaded on a truck fell on him near Dhak mountains, some 25 kilometre from here, on Mianwali-Rawalpindi road.

The deceased, along with his family, had come here to condole the death of the father of a journalist, Malik Naik Muhammad.

On his way back to Islamabad, the officers’ car stuck in a traffic jam near Dhak mountains. As he came out of his car to know the cause of the traffic jam, a passing trailer slipped and the container loaded on it fell on him. A portion of the container also damaged the bonnet of the car. However, Malik Iftikhar’s family members remained safe.

On being informed of the incident, DPO Malik Abdul Aziz Khan, and officiating DCO Syed Osat Ali shah (EDO-Revenue) reached the spot and got the officers’ body recovered from under the container with the help of PAF crane.
