LARKANA, Jan 30: The members of the district council belonging to Awam Dost Panel (ADP) said on Wednesday they would soon table a no-confidence motion against the district nazim and urged him to step down voluntarily.

Pakistan People’s Party-backed ADP leaders Khair Muhammed Shaikh, Ali Gohar Bhatti and others said at a press conference at Kennedy Market that the district nazim had lost majority in the council.

They said that two and a half years on and the district government had failed to kick off any mega project in the district, which had seen law and order situation getting worse by each passing day.

The nazim was responsible for maintaining peace and law and order but he had utterly failed to discharge his duties, they said, adding, that the ‘inefficient’ district government had handed over all the basic and rural health centres to a private organisation instead of running them itself.

They questioned the use of Rs2.5 billion massive budget and said it was mandatory for the district council to hold at least 125 sessions while the district had met only for 40 days.

They said that the number of non-functional schools when the new district government was formed stood at 250, which had now increased to 280, and spoke volumes for the government’s performance.
