KARACHI, Jan 1: Caretaker Minister for Local Government Syed Saleem Ahmed Zaidi has suspended TMO of Site Town Afaq Saeed after receiving complaints from people about his inefficiency and dereliction of duty.

The minister warned that no officer of the local government was above the law, and said that no one should consider himself as such. “Every officer has to discharge his duties with devotion and dedication for which he is paid by the government,” he added.

He said anyone found involved in corruption, negligence or inefficiency would have to face departmental action, and warned that he would pay surprise visits to various wings of the local government department to monitor performance of officers.—APP
