BADIN: Rangers and army were called out in Badin to control the situation after Thursday’s night-long violence erupted following the news of the assassination of the Pakistan People’s Party leader Benazir Bhutto arrived here. The emotional people came out at the streets.
The DPO Badin, Mumtaz Junejo confirmed, a youngster, Sajjad Memon has been killed in a shooting spree.
Meanwhile, as many as 15 vehicles including three police mobiles were set ablaze and sever others partially damaged in the various towns of the dictricts.
Two banks in Badin, one in Kario Ganwer, were set on fire while many government buildings including three police posts, a Golarchi mukhtiarkaar office and the court building in Badin along with a large number of shops were also put on fire.
Several petrol pumps were damaged. Huge losses were reported from Tando Bago and Khorwah towns. Looting incidents were reported as the situation remained tense.
