ISLAMABAD, Dec 26: Two persons including a minor were killed and a woman was injured in separate traffic accidents in the federal capital, while a girl committed suicide in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

Ishrat Bibi was crossing a road in Sara-i-Kharbooza carrying her three-month-old nephew, when a passenger wagon hit them. The infant, Abdul Rahman, died on the spot while the injured woman was shifted to hospital where she was stated to be in a critical condition.

A man was killed after being knocked down by an unidentified vehicle while crossing a road at Soan Camp. The deceased, Jibran, suffered multiple injuries and died on the spot.

In Rawalpindi, a girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her Gulzar-i-Quaid house, while an accused tried to kill himself in the police lock-up on Tuesday, police said.

Sadia, daughter of Mohammad Javed, was found hanging with a rope tied to the ceiling of her room.

Police said she had a meeting with her fiance, Asadullah, in the house. Soon after he left the house, the girl received a call on her cellphone after which she started sobbing.

Afterwards, she went into her room and committed suicide. Police said the cause of the suicide was to be investigated. Meanwhile, Abdul Rahim who was arrested on Sunday in connection with an attack on a Waris Khan police team attempted suicide by hitting his head with the iron door of the lockup. However, the accused was overpowered by the police and shifted to hospital.

Rahim was arrested after a police party tried to raid a house on Sunday night.

Tahir Mehmood told New Town police that four robbers entered his house and looted $3,500 and British pounds 500.

Two robbers snatched a cellphone and a camera from a mediaperson in Shamsabad.

A woman was deprived of her purse by two motorcycle riders in Commercial Market.

Mohammad Javed’s car was stolen in Westridge while Mushtaq Hussain’s motorcycle was lifted from the Civil Line area.

Qaisar Abbas’ motorcycle was taken away from Sadiqabad while Sajjad Ahmed’s motorcycle was stolen in Gangmandi area. Mohammad Iqbal’s car was stolen in Gangmandi area.
