ATTOCK, Dec 23: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader of Jand tehsil Syed Ayaz Shah, has joined the Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) ‘unconditionally’ in protest for refusing him party ticket for PP-19 Attock-V, it has been learnt.

Mr Shah announced his joining of the king’s party on the arrival of PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain at his residence on Sunday, party sources said.

District nazim Maj (retd) Tahir Sadik, Jand Tehsil Nazim Sardar Manzar Amir were also present on the occasion.

Mr Shah, who had contested from the same constituency in election 2002 from the platform of PPP against the PML-Q candidate Pir Abbas Mohiuddin, they said. Once again, he filed nomination from the party platform to contest the same seat in coming elections. But the PPP did not consider him for the second term, and awarded ticket to Advocate Sardar Ameer, they said.

After failing to persuade the party high ups to change their mind, he resigned from the party and withdrew his nominations.

When contacted, Syed Ayaz Shah said he joined with PML-Q in protest for ignoring him in awarding ticket for PP-19 despite over 30 years long services of his father for the party.

Ms Shah is son of an old party leader and former MPA Syed Ibrar Shah.

PML-Q leadership has assured him that maximum resources would be utilised for the development of this tehsil with his consent besides resolving the masses problems, he added.—Correspondent
