LAKKI MARWAT, Dec 23: The Public-Private Partnership Tube-well Owners Association, Lakki, on Sunday announced to support for candidates backed by the Saif-Kamal alliance in the coming elections.
The announcement was made at a meeting held in Tajazai. The meeting was presided over by president of the association Haji Muhammad Halim. Besides office-bearers of the association, a number of farmers attended the meeting.
Giving details to journalists after the meeting, press secretary Shadi Khan Marwat said that the local farmer community would extend its full support to the Saif-Kamal panel in the coming elections.
He said the office-bearers of the association as well as local leaders of farmers’ organisations would launch a door-to-door campaign for the candidates close to the Saifullahs of PML-Q and Anwar Kamal of PML-N.
He said that the PML-Q candidate for NA-27, Humayun Saifullah Khan, and Senator Salim Saifullah Khan in their capacity as district nazim and former federal minister, respectively, helped provide electricity for as many as 125 tube-wells in the last couple of years. “The move to provide the tube-wells with electricity facility helped boost the agriculture sector and raise the living standard of poor farmers in the district,” he said.
He said that the victory of candidates backed by the Saif-Kamal panel would pave the way for accelerating and completing work on mega projects in water and power sectors like construction of the Kurrum Tangi dam, small dams, Rod Kohi dykes, slow action dams and setting up 132KV grid stations in the district.
