Pakistan facing uphill task: Butt

Published December 10, 2007

BANGALORE, Dec 9: Opener Salman Butt predicted a tough fight for Pakistan after the visitors were at the receiving end for the second straight day in the third and final against India at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.

Butt, who carried the fight to the Indians by stroking an unbeaten 50 as Pakistan closed at 86-1, said the pitch was likely to play tricks in the remaining three days of the match.

“We’ll have to put up a resilient fight because batting won’t be that easy as the ball has started to keep low occasionally. At least one ball an over keeps low to deceive the batsmen,” Salman told a press conference.

The left-hander, however, backed his team to get out of trouble. “I still think we can do well,” he said. “If we score quickly, there’s still a chance for us to level the series.”
