QUETTA, March 30: The deputy director, Balochistan Public Relations Department, Yousaf Mansoor, was gunned down by unknown killers near Dhadar, some 140km from here, late on Friday night.

Police sources said Mr Mansoor was on his way to Quetta from his fields in Bagh-Nari area of Kacchi district, when the assailants, who were waiting for him near Dhadar, opened indiscriminate fire on his vehicle and fled.

He succumbed to his multiple-bullet injuries before getting any first aid.

Local authorities rushed to the incident site and took his body to a hospital, from where it was brought to Quetta and handed over the relatives after completing formalities.

Though cause of the murder could not be ascertained, Dhadar police suspected that land dispute could be behind the murder of Mr Mansoor. No arrest could be made so far.

The deputy director was buried in Kasi Graveyard on Saturday. A large number of people including government officials, newsmen and other people attended his funeral.
