LAHORE, Dec 8: A scuffle broke out between two groups of lawyers at the compound of the Lahore High Court Bar Association on Saturday reportedly over the issue of a resolution seeking removal of judges who have taken oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO).
Addressing a press conference, Dr Basit said advocate Arshad Virk had sustained a heart attack following an assault by supporters of LHCBA president Ahsan Bhoon and was under treatment at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
He claimed that Bhoon had not allowed him and other lawyers to arrange a meeting (over the resolution) inside the barroom.
The resolution, he said, was also not being submitted before the house.
Basit said he was going to lodge an FIR against Bhoon, Pervez Musharraf and LHC chief justice who, according to him, had corroborated the attack besides creating a new group among lawyers.
Bhoon on the other hand accused Basit of trying to sabotage lawyers’ movement. He said Basit had met President Musharraf a few days back where he got a huge amount to act as a spoiler.
