LAHORE, March 30: A review board of three Lahore High Court judges on Saturday declined a Punjab government plea to extend the detention of Hafiz Mohammad Saeed of Jamaatul Dawa but recommended continued incarceration of Sipah-i-Sahaba’s Maulana Azam Tariq.

The two detenus were produced before Justices Karamat Nazir Bhandari, Mian Najamuzzaman and Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry amid tight security.

The board heard them and a Punjab government official before making its recommendations.

This is the second time that the SSP chief was given an extension in his detention period.

He will be shifted from his residence to the Mianwali Jail and kept there till May 31.

The government sought a three-month extension for both the detenus.
