HYDERABAD, Nov 20: Twelve activists of Awami Tehrik including the party leader Ayaz Latif Palejo advocate, son of AT chief Rasool Bux Palijo, courted arrest on Tuesday in Hyderabad, Larkana and Mirpurkhas during the party’s Jail Bharo Movement against the imposition of emergency.
Mr Ayaz Latif, Mehran Khaskheli, Lal Khan Shar, Roop Chand and Choth Chand courted arrests after staging a demonstration in the civil courts building.
AT chief Rasool Bux Palijo condemned the arrests and violence against journalists in many parts of the country. He expressed solidarity with the print and electronic media personnel.In Larkana, police held three AT workers Zaffar Lark, Rahib Samo and Nasrullah Chandio when they took to the streets carrying party flags and placards and chanting slogans at the Pakistan Chowk.
The activists said before arrest that their movement would continue till the lifting of emergency, restoration of constitution and lifting of curbs on media.
Police, meanwhile, arrested four activists of Pakistan Tehrik-I-Inasf (PTI) including its divisional president Shahid Rind from the main gate of Jinnahbagh when they were demonstrating against the arrest of Imran Khan and proclamation of emergency.
In Mirpurkhas, four more AT activists Rahim Kaloi, Abdul Majeed, Mumtaz Junejo and Ali Murad Dahiri courted arrest when they staged a demonstration on the M.A. Jinnah Road near sessions’ courts.
