Kiwi all-rounder escapes ban

AUCKLAND, March 27: New Zealand’s Andre Adams was fined and censured for dissent at a disciplinary hearing here Wednesday, but was cleared to make his Test debut in the third Test against England which starts Saturday.

The Auckland all-rounder was fined $250 and received a written censure after being cited by umpires Brent Bowden and Tony Hill for questioning a decision made by Hill in a State Championship game against Wellington.

Adams, known as a One-day International specialist, was in danger of being banned for at least one first-class match, which in his case would have been the third and final Test.

Umpire Hill said the incident was brought about by natural player frustration, rather than a personal attack on himself.—Reuters
