KARACHI, March 27: The first meeting of the steering committee on higher education was held at the Aga Khan University on Wednesday.
A press release said the committee would submit a monthly progress report to the President of Pakistan till August.
The committee’s primary objective is to help transform Pakistan’s higher education institutions into world-class seats of learning and research, enabling the country to compete effectively in a rapidly globalizing, knowledge-based economy.
The committee, which met under the chairmanship of AKU president Shamsh Kassim Lakha, would develop an implementation plan for the recommendation of the Task Force to institute the four-year undergraduate programmes, involving a broader system of general education in a phased manner.
