KARACHI, Nov 12: Despite losing two rounds, Farhat clinched the Karachi Bridge Association Swiss League Championship at the Aslam Memorial Hall by mustering 91 victory points (VPs).
Farhat comprising Mohammad Naseem, Ghufran Ashraf, Anwer Kizilbash and Farhat Abbas opened their account with a 25-5 victory over Rais-IV, but lost 12-18 to Solox in the next round.
They defeated Mahmood 25-5 and lost fourth round 8-22 to Candyland. Abedies fell to their own aggression in the last round and Farhat won the match 21-9.
Rais-IV finished second with 90 VPs.
They had the services of Rais, Mohsin Chandna, Yousuf Gheewala and Immad Sayed.
Rais-IV outclassed Friends 25-4 in the second round, lost 13-17 to Puris and then defeated Four Bidders 25-5 and Candyland 25-4.
Irfan started with a 17-13 victory over Puris then lost consecutive matches 13-17 each to Candyland and Abedies.
Shakeel Chandna, Irfan Saadat, Noor Alam and Rashid Shamsi represented Irfan.
They registered 19-11 victory against Giants and outplayed Four Bidders 25-0 in the last round to occupy third position with 87 VPs.
Tariq Zafar and Mehmood Siddiqui won the pairs’ event from Red House with 60.32 per cent score.
The contests were held on Scramble Mitchel Movement.
In the Green House, the pair of Dr Sarfraz Ahmed and S.M. Ozair won with score of 62.18 per cent.—Agencies
