MIRPURKHAS, March 26: The Anti-Corruption Establishment, Mirpurkhas, initiated an inquiry into the awarding of contracts by the XEN, provincial highway division, Mirpurkhas, without adopting legal tender process.

Some contractors of the highway division, Mirpurkhas, said that Nazeer Memon, circle in charge, Anti-Corruption Establishment, Mirpurkhas, had started the inquiry and sought official records from the XEN, Shahnawaz Joyo.

It has been alleged that the XEN had awarded contracts worth millions of rupees to his favourites during the month of February without adopting proper tender process.

REINVESTIGATION ORDERED: A man, Ghulam Hussain Khaskheli, the uncle of one Altaf Khaskheli who was killed over a land dispute about a month ago, said that the police department had been ordered to reinvestigate the killing of his nephew.

He said that, however, the inquiry team was allegedly supporting the Deewan family as it had neither recorded the statements of Khaskheli tribesmen nor visited the area.

He feared that the inquiry team would dispose of the case exparte.

TALUKA NAZIM: The executive engineer, Mithrao division, Ghulam M. Memon, urged the DPO, Mirpurkhas, to register a case against the taluka Nazim, Kot Ghulam Mohammed, Arif Bhurgari, for misbehaving with him and threatening him.

In a letter sent to the DPO on Tuesday, he said that in the presence of the director, Nara Canal, Zafar Laghari, and SDOs at the office of the director, Nara Canal, Arif Bhurgari, the taluka Nazim, Kot Ghulam Mohammed, asked the XEN, Mithrao division, Ghulam M. Memon as to why the Bhurgari channel had been closed.

It was alleged that on the occasion, the taluka Nazim, Arif Bhurgari, lost his temper, used abusive language, threatened him of dire consequences, and warned that nobody could close his channel.

Later, on the intervention of the director, he left the office.
