Punjab lead Athletics competition

LAHORE, Nov 2: Punjab, with six gold medals, were overall leaders on the opening day of the National Junior athletics championship here on Friday.

For Punjab, Mohammad Khalil (javelin throw), Ahmed Hassan (5000m) and Mohsin Ali (110m hurdles) won the gold medals in boys’ competitions while Nadia (400m), Samia (shot put) and Amna Butt (javelin throw) excelled in the girls’ category.Athletes from all the four provinces and various educational institutions, including Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, NWFP, Fata, Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education of Lahore, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, The City School and Beanconhouse School System, are taking part in the two-day event.—Sports Reporter
