KARACHI, Oct 27: The Vice-Chancellor of the Dow University of Health Sciences, Prof Masood Hameed Khan, on Saturday inaugurated the Diabetic Foot Centre at the Orthopaedic Department of Civil Hospital.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, he laid emphasis on a combined team approach for an effective treatment of diabetic foot which required collaboration among orthopaedic surgeons, physicians, social and rehabilitation workers and other relevant professionals.
He informed the audience that around 10 per cent of the adult population in Pakistan was diabetic. “In case the sugar levels in blood become higher than the average range, the person concerned must not ignore the anomaly as it can lead to many health-related complications.” he said.
He announced that the Diabetic Foot Centre would function in collaboration with the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and other relevant departments of the Civil Hospital and the DUHS.
Prof Masood appreciated the efforts of Prof Mushtaq Quraishi and Dr Syed Mujahid Humail in the establishment of the centre in question.—APP
