RAWALPINDI, Oct 23: An additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) on Tuesday ordered police to register an FIR against an SHO for allegedly torturing an under-trail prisoner at the Saddar Berooni police station.

ADSJ Shaukat Mehmood directed the police to register a criminal case against former SHO Syed Riaz Shah along with seven other police officials for allegedly torturing Mohammad Javaid at the Adiala Jail.

Mr Javaid moved the court against the SHO, in-charge Chowki Adiala ASI Mohammad Arshad, ASIs Javaid Iqbal, Aftab, Mohammad Izhar and constables Inayatullah, Mohammad Riaz and Liaqat Ali for torturing him first at police Chowki Adiala and then at police station Saddar Berooni.

He was arrested in connection with a case of attempt murder registered with the Mandra police station. When Mr Javaid was being taken to a court in Gujar Khan from Adiala Jail on April 28 this year, some police guards of the jail vehicle reportedly demanded bribe that he refused.

The enraged police officials reportedly took him to the Adiala police Chowki where he was tortured for two days and was then transferred to the police station Saddar Berooni where he was again tortured for two days.

Later, a terrorism case was registered against Mr Javaid. When the police referred him back to the jail, the concerned authorities refused to take him due to severe injuries. He moved the court and the judge ordered constitution of a medical board, and doctors confirmed the torture.
