Sindh shooting trials from today

KARACHI, Oct 20: Trials to select Sindh’s squad to participate in the 16th National Shooting Championship will be held at the Navy Shooting Range on Sunday and Monday, an official of the Sindh Rifle Association said on Saturday.

He said a 20-member squad will be picked after the trials.

The championship will be held at the Islamabad Shooting Range from Oct 29 to Nov 4.

Over 150 shooters including Commonwealth Games’ standard pistol silver medallist Irshad Ali, centre-fire team silver medallist Zahid Ali, Maqbool Tabbasum, who won five gold medals in South Asian Games in Colombo and double Olympian Khurram Inam representing Army, Navy, PAF, Punjab, Sindh, NWFP, Balochistan and Islamabad would be taking part in the competition.

Ladies’ and boys’ under-16 contests will also be held.

Top shooters of the championship will be selected for the Asian Shooting Championship, scheduled to be held in Kuwait in December.—APP
