HYDERABAD, Oct 20: The Sindh Abadgar Board on Saturday demanded that the government should fix minimum support price for wheat at Rs600 per 40 kilogramme.

The board’s vice-president Dr Zulfiqar Yousfani said in a statement to press that the support price of Rs600 per 40kg would end wheat crisis in the country.

It would not only enable the growers to chalk out their future programme but also motivate them to grow more wheat, he said and demanded that the government should direct sugar mill owners to start crushing season without further delay as the sugarcane was ready to be harvested.

If they started crushing now it would save precious irrigation water and enable growers to sow cotton on the area vacated by sugarcane crop, he said urging the government to direct agriculture department to start its “Grow More Wheat Campaign” and hold seminars in each taluka to educate growers.

MEDICAL CAMP: The general secretary of the United Memon Jamaat of Hala, Allah Bachayo Memon, said on Saturday that a free medical camp for examination and treatment of the patients of blood sugar, blood pressure and blood cholesterol would be held on Oct 23 at 9am at Memon Charitable Dispensary in Hala.

He said that all the tests would be conducted and medicines would be provided to patients free of charge. The medical camp for psychiatric and mental patients would be held on Oct 26 at Memon Charitable Dispensary, Market Road Hala where renowned psychiatrist Prof. Abdul Hameed Memon would examine patients.

DATE EXTENDED: The University of Sindh has extended the date to submit admission forms to Bachelors and Masters Degree programme for 2008, up to October 27.

According to an announcement by the Registrar Mohammad Saleh Rajar on Saturday, the Vice Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui considering the request of parents and candidates announced extension in date up to October, 27 for submission of admission forms.

Interested candidates had been advised to get admission forms from the Sindh University Habib Bank Limited, Jamshoro Branch. It was notified the forms were also available at the official website: www.usindh.edu.pk

Candidates had been advised to submit forms along with all required documents by October, 27.
