JACOBABAD, Oct 13: A kidnapped tribal elder, Sardar Bashir Ahmed Katohar, who was released on Saturday night, alleged that the Jacobabad DPO was behind his kidnapping.

Bashir Ahmed was going to his village in the Thul area in a car on October 4, when some eight armed men on motorcycles intercepted his car and kidnapped him at gunpoint and took him to some location in Balochistan.

After his release, Mr Bashir told journalists in a press conference that he was kidnapped by Mohammad Ali Sarki, brother of the notorious dacoit, Bhuddo Sarki.

He alleged that the DPO was behind his kidnapping and due to the same reason the police had not taken any step for his release.

He claimed that his friend, Rehmatullah Khoso, had secured his release after using his personal influence.

There were rumours in the area that Bashir Ahmed was released after paying a handsome amount of cash in ransom.
