QUETTA, Oct 12: The railway link between Quetta and the rest of the country was cut off for several hours after a portion of the main track was blown up and a bridge was damaged in the Dashat area on Friday.

Railway officials said the explosive device planted under the railway track destroyed a five-foot portion of the main railway track and damaged the bridge.

After the blast, all trains coming to Quetta from Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi were stopped at different railway stations. Passenger trains could not leave for their destinations as per schedule.

Railway engineers replaced the damaged portion of the track and restored the rail link in the afternoon.
