22 PML-N workers arrested

LAHORE, Oct 12: Police arrested 22 Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz workers for staging a demonstration on Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam here on Friday and registered a case against them under Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance.

Sixteen men and six women were arrested outside the Al-falah Building for staging a demonstration on the call of Shahbaz Sharif Secretariat. They were also roughed up by the police before arrest. The protesters were raising slogans against Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Shahbaz Sharif Secretariat women wing in-charge Salma Butt and political secretary of Mian Shahbaz Sahrif Naushad Hamid were among those arrested. Speaking at a meeting held at the Shahbaz Sharif Secretariat after the demonstration, media adviser Rana Muhammad Ashraf and other office-bearers condemned the arrest of the workers and demanded their immediate release.
