KARACHI, March 21: Four container vessels are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berth occupancy at the wharves showed a considerable improvement rising to 62 and 67 per cent at both the dry wharves and the Bulk Oil Piers as 10 ships were berthed and sailed out.

Six ships, Julius Oldendroff, Leixoes, to offload and load containers, Haian Cheng and Hyderabad to offload and load general cargo and rice, Al-Maqwa and Abdoun Discovery to unload high speed diesel and crude oil were berthed after the sailing of four.

The departing ships were led by Swat, Wan Hai-232, CEC Meadow, and Bador, while Khairpur, PONL Pemba, Multan, Leixoes, Al-Maqwa, Pavonis, Abdoun Discovery, and MSC Noa are due to sail out on Friday.

Owing to higher handling of the liquid cargo, the total tonnage soared to 0.10 million tons comprising 20,760 tons of export cargo including 8,000 tons of molasses and 83,253 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Friday and Saturday: Sima Roja, Namila, Kota Dusaka and Sagar.
