KARACHI, March 20: The city government’s website was launched here on Tuesday by the City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, at a simple ceremony.

With the inauguration of the website (www.Karachicity.gov.pk) that has been developed by the City government’s Information technology department, the City district government of Karachi (CDGK) has become the first city government to have such facility in the country.

Highlighting the salient features of the website, the CDGK’s executive district officer (Information Technology), Mohammad Yahya Waliullah, told the gathering that one of the most useful and interesting feature of the website is the provision of web mail which can be sent by any one browsing the website to the City Nazim, Naib Nazim, district coordination officer as well as to all the 18 towns of the city directly.

The front page of the website shows on top seven historical buildings of the city which include Quaid’s mausoleum, Keamari port’s flyover, besides containing picture of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, President Pervez Musharraf, City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, etc.

The City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, while appreciating the IT department for developing the website announced a cash award of Rs 10,000 for the IT department’s data entry operator, Mohammad Shahid, who helped a lot in developing the website.
