KARACHI, March 19: The Asian zone-V under-20 football championship will be held in Karachi from April 25, secretary Sindh Football Association (SFA) Ghulam Abbas Baloch said Tuesday.
He told APP that four regional teams including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and hosts Pakistan will be featuring in the championship.
He said to select Pakistan probables for the event, Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) have launched trials to select under-17 and under-19 boys.
He said Pakistan’s English coach John Lyton conducted the series of trials to pick probables for the Asian youth contest.
SFA secretary said trials for the purpose had already been completed in Punjab and Frontier province.
He said three-day Sindh leg of trials concluded at KMC Stadium today.
He said 500 players from Karachi and interior of Sindh appeared in the trials.
Abbas said he alongwith PFF Vice Chairman Ali Nawaz, Hasan Baloch and Rahim Bakhsh Baloch assisted him during the trials.
Lyton will be leaving for Quetta Wednesday on the last leg of trials for boys of Balochistan zone.
He said after picking the boys in under-17 and under-19 age group he will be submitting the names of probables for the final selection trials from which Pakistan team will be named.—APP
