PESHAWAR, March 19: The drama society of Edwards College staged Shakespear’s play Hamlet at the main hall of the Arts block here on Tuesday.

The organisers, who started preparations for the play in November 2001, included Prof Kalimullah, head of the English Department, Atiqur Rahman, Nasir Iqbal and Mian Aftab Ali Shah, of the English Faculty. The costumes and sets were designed by the Fine Arts department, University of Peshawar, while music director was Ivon.

The main character roles in the play were performed by Shaheerul Asar, Nahid Bangash, Barkhurdar, Ali Raza, Hasan Bukhari, Imran Durrani, Gul Rukh, Majida, Aman and Sajjad. The narrator was Asim.

Prof Kalimullah told this scribe that drama was organised in line with the traditions of the college to stage classic English plays. He said that Edwards College was the only institution in the province which had the honour of organizing such plays.
