DADU, Sept 24: A large number of farmers of village Mian-jo-Goth, Taluka Mehar observed token hunger strike in Dadu on Monday in protest against NAB Deputy Director Abdul Hafeez Siddique and Dadu police for allegedly registering 12 fake FIRs at various police stations against farmers over a land dispute.
Eight men, three women and two children held Quran on their head and observed token hunger strike.
Moulana Mohammed Mureed Solangi told reporters the Deputy Director NAB, Abdul Hafeez Siddique, Makhdoom Muneer-ul Haq and Makhdoom Papoo were cousins sharing land with dispute among each other. He said they were farmers on the land jointly owned by them.
He said the Deputy Director NAB had handed over 100 acres in Deh Rap Nari of Taluka Mehar to his cousins Makhdoom Muneer-ul Haq and Makhdoom Papoo. He said the Deputy Director NAB being landlord was exerting pressure on them through local police not to allow Makhdoom Muneer-ul Haq and Makhdoom Papoo to visit the land.
Ms Khadiyat Solangi said police registered 12 cases at Thareri Mohabbat, Mehar, Dadu, Rukan, Khairpur and other police stations on behest of Deputy Director NAB. She said district police arrested four farmers including Haji Ghulam Ali who was in jail since last two months, Ali Hassan in Mehar sub Jail and Hafeez and Ramzan Solangi in Dadu district jail in different fake cases.
Ms Rahiman said over 30 farmers of village Mian-Jo-Goth were shown as absconders in the cases as police were conducting raids at their houses daily. She said they had nothing to eat and as such no money to give to police. She appealed to the Chief Justice Pakistan to take notice and dispense justice.
ARREST: A former accountant of DPO Office Investigation Dadu presently working as accountant of the SP Investigation Office Jamshoro, Dodo Khan Gopang was arrested on charges of corruption on Monday in a raid conducted by Anti Corruption Establishment.
A team of the ACE led by Circle officer Siraj Ahmed Lashari raided house in Kotri and arrested accountant of the SP Office Investigation Jamshoro, Dodo Gopang. The ACE had lodged an FIR against Dodo Khan Gopang.
According to Circle Officer, the accused Dodo Khan possessed property worth millions of rupees purchased through unlawful means during his posting in Hyderabad, Dadu and Badin.
The ACE team also raided at Sobho Magsi village in Mehar taluka arrested a private person Rafique Ahmed Magsi for preparing fake documents of 300 acres revenue land in Deh Magsi. The ACE registered a case against him.
SUICIDE: A man, Maqbool Ahmed Jamali 20, committed suicide by shooting himself over domestic problem in his house at Moundar Naka here on Sunday night. The deceased wanted to marry a girl of his choice, while his father reportedly opposed the proposal.
RALLY: Hundreds of PPP activists took out a rally on Monday on Benazir Bhutto’s announcement to return to country on 18 October. District President Rafique Jamali, Dost Ali Jaisar, Kazi Shafique Mahessar, Saeed Ahmed Jamali, Ghulam Shabbir Abro, Barrister Pir Mujeeb-ul-Haq, Advocate Shafi Mohammad led the rally. They marched on different roads of the town.
