Two killed in separate accidents

KHAIRPUR, March 17: Two men died in two separate accidents in different parts of Khairpur district on Sunday.

Munawwar Ali son of Nabi Bux Laghari was crushed to death under the wheels of a tractor in village Dhedhano, taluka Thari Mirwah.

The tractor driver escaped.

In another incident Kamaluddin son of Gul Mohammad Phulpoto died after being hit by a speedy bus (PA-754) on the National Highway near Wasryo Wahan.

He was rushed to a Khairpur hospital by the district Naib Nazim Sher Mohammad Phulpoto but he died in the hospital.

The bus driver escaped while Babarloi police impounded the bus.

BAR: Syed Bachal Shah was elected president of District Bar Association, Khairpur, here on Saturday in the annual elections of the association.

Other successful office bearers were Aziz Ahmed Khwaja, vice president, Manzoor Hussain Ansari, general secretary, Abdullah Maitlo, joint secretary, Hafizullah Chandio, auditor, Abdul Sami Bhund, librarian, and Ali Dino Shaikh, treasurer.

PROTEST: Scores of residents of villages Moula Bux Mallah and Jamo Khan Lashari of taluka Nara held a protest demonstration on Saturday against closure of their village’s school for last five years. The villagers threatened to destroy the school building if teachers were not appointed immediately.

FIRE: Some ten houses caught fire on Saturday night in two separate incidents in the talukas of Thari Mirwah and Nara.

The houses of Ghulam Nabi, Wali Mohammad, Imam Ali, Bachal, and Allah Dino suddenly caught fire due to a short circuit of electricity in village Shah Umer Leghari, taluka Thari Mirwah.

Two goats, one lamb and household items were reduced to ashes.

In another incident the houses of Nisar, Khameeso and Haji Jakhrani caught fire near Pirani Pattan, taluka Nara.

The household items including thousands of rupees in cash were reduced to ashes.

CLASH: Two men, Abdul Sattar and Sanaullah, were injured in a clash between two groups of the Shar tribe in villages Khuda Bux and Shahnawaz of taluka Thari Mirwah on Saturday. A case has been registered against some 10 people out of which Ali Murad, Mohammad Yaseen, Abdul Ghani, Ahmed Ali and Allah Dino have been arrested.
