KARACHI, Sept 16: The national selectors on Sunday named opener Khurram Manzoor in the Pakistan ‘A’ squad to play Australia ‘A’ in the second and final four-day match, which starts at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from Wednesday.

Khurram, a talented 21-year-old right-hander, scored a career-best 200 for last season’s Quaid-i-Azam Trophy champions Karachi Urban in the Nissar Trophy fixture against Ranji Trophy winners Mumbai earlier this week.

Khurram takes the place of Hasan Raza, who disappointed with a string of low scores in both the one-day series as well as the first four-day game in Faisalabad.

Apart from Khurram, the selection committee headed by Salahuddin Ahmed, have made several other changes to the side that lost the first four-day game on Saturday by a whooping margin of an innings and 203 runs.

Experienced fast bowler Mohammad Sami, who didn’t play in the one-day series won 3-0 by Pakistan ‘A’, returns to spearhead the bowling. Medium-pacer Anwar Ali Khan has also been included after left-arm paceman Najaf Shah reported with a back problem. Abdur Rauf, the lanky pacer who top-scored with 73 in Pakistan ‘A’s first innings at Faisalabad, is also sidelined with a groin injury.

Tahir Khan replaces fellow off-spinner Atif Maqbool in the only other change.

Squad: Faisal Iqbal (captain), Taufiq Umar, Khalid Latif, Khurram Manzoor, Yasir Hameed, Naved Latif, Sarfraz Ahmed, Mansoor Amjad, Tahir Khan, Mohammad Sami, Mohammad Khalil, Mohammad Irshad, Anwar Ali Khan, Adnan Raza, Rizwan Ahmed.
