Published September 12, 2007

FAISALABAD, Sept 11: City district nazim Rana Zahid Touseef says parking plazas will be constructed in different parts of the district.

Addressing a meeting of the district government and traffic department officers on Tuesday, he said construction designs (of plazas) had been sent to the Punjab government for approval. He said first parking plaza would be raised at former mayor’s house.

Regarding the elimination of donkey carts, he said the government intended to extend full support to the donkey cart owners by giving them loader rickshaws on easy installments. He said donkey carts were a major cause of traffic jams in the district and all carts would be removed gradually.

He said repair/up-gradation of three overhead bridges — Novelty, Abdullahpur and Jhaal Khauna -— would be started soon.
