HUB, March 16: The union council Nazims of the Lasbela district have expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of police, holding them responsible for all the criminal activities occurring in the town.

Since we have taken the charge of our offices, we have found the police to be non-cooperative and irresponsible, they said at a meeting, presided over by Hub tehsil Nazim Jamil Gichki at his office here on Wednesday. Lasbela district Nazim Jam Kamal Khan also attended the meeting.

The UC Nazims alleged that the Hub town police had chosen neither to listen to the public complaints nor provide them with protection against outlaws.

They accused the police of supporting criminals and keeping a “soft corner” for drug-paddlers.

Hub’s deputy police officer, Jawed Basheer, said some officials might not have cooperated with the local bodies’ representatives, but “most of our officials are responsible and cooperative.” Assuring the Nazims of his full cooperation, he said law and order would be maintained during Muharram.

The district Nazim urged the police to cooperate with the local bodies’ representatives. He remarked that it was the responsibility of the police to enforce a system of check and balance in the district and protect the people from criminals.

EXAM’S INSPECTION: A delegation of local bodies’ representatives and journalists, led by Hub tehsil Nazim Jamil Gichki, visited Government Boys High School, Hub, and witnessed the SSC examination.
