MIRPURKHAS, Sept 8: The chairman of the Farmers Organisations’ Council (FOC), Javed Junejo has expressed concern over the ignoring of

the council by the irrigation

authorities and SIDA officers during their Saturday’s visit when (retd) Brig Abdul Haq, vice-chairman SIDA, examined the water channels in Mirpurkhas and Umerkot districts.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Mr Junejo deplored that irrigation and SIDA officers had adopted a negative attitude after they sent complaints to the Supreme Court in writing and other higher authorities regarding the corruption and irregularities of irrigation department and SIDA officers in lining and other improvement works at different channels of Nara canal area.

He said they had been deprived of to apprise the vice-chairman SIDA regarding the irregularities and corruption in funds of lining and improvement work at channels.

He said that vice-chairman SIDA only visited the Sufi Shakh area while growers had complained of corruption in funds for the area in past.

He said that a meeting of FOC will be held on Sept 11, to prepare future paln to face the negative attitude of irrigation and SIDA officers.

kidnapping: Another youth has been missing from the city and it feared that he might be kidnapped.

Reports said that Kashif 22, son of Nooruddin Qureshi has been missing since the last three days. His parents and relatives were searching for him.

When the town police contacted they said they were unaware of such incident, as none of Kashif’s relative contacted the police.

It was a second such incident in a week as Farhan Memon son of Abdul Sattar Memon has been kidnapped on Sept 4 and later killed by unidentified kidnappers.
