PESHAWAR, March 15: To facilitate the tribesmen living in inaccessible areas, the Pakistan army have undertaken various development schemes in the field of communication, education, and water supply in the Khyber Agency.
Corps Commander Lieutenant-General Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai on Friday launched the second phase of Pakistan Army Special Development Package for Fata, with an emphasis on the construction of roads in remote tribal areas.
Speaking on the occasion the corps commander asked the tribesmen to forge unity among their ranks by settling their disputes as the country was faced with difficult times.
He said that tribesmen had always offered great sacrifices in defending the country, and by welcoming the army in their area at a critical juncture they had added a new chapter to their rich history.
Gen Aurakzai added that all the pledges made by the government will be honoured, and the journey towards progress has begun with the arrival of the troops in their area.
The corps commander also laid the foundation stone of a middle school at Mehmood Ali Killi and various project for water supply and road construction in the tribal area.
The corps commander said that the government was especially interested in the welfare of the tribal people.
