KHANEWAL, Sept 3: The district coordination officer on Monday ordered registration of a case against 12 people allegedly involved in a bid to transfer 1,200-kanal agriculture land by preparing forged documents.
Reports said Javaid Iqbal, Tayyab Iqbal, Muhammad Iqbal, Mazharul Haq, Masood Ahmad, Fazal Husain, Abdul Khaliq, Muhammad Ishaq, Muhammad Saqlain, Ashiq Husain, Abdul Hamid and Muhammad Sabir had prepared documents for transferring the land with fake signatures of District Officer (revenue) Imtiaz Ali Shah. At the time of transfer, Tehsildar Rao Suhail contacted the DOR and DCO on suspicion.
During initial investigation, it was learnt that all the documents presented for the transfer of land were forged and prepared in connivance with revenue officials, including Patwari Mushtaq Ahmad Phul and Qanoongo Saleem Iqbal. The DCO suspended from service the patwari and qanoongo.
It may be mentioned here that the said land was allotted to one Col Taj at 64/10-R village in the past, but the allotment was cancelled for not completing terms and condition some time ago.
On a report from the Army Welfare Trust, the revenue department declared that the land was owned by the Punjab government.
