PARACHINAR, Sept 3: A tribesman was killed and six other people, including a woman and a minor girl, were injured when rival tribes clashed over a land dispute in the Kurram Agency for a second day on Monday.

Witnesses and officials said the two tribes, Soezai and Para Chamkani, attacked each other’s positions with heavy weapons.

The deceased was identified as Abdullah, son of Habibullah.

The injured included a woman and a girl child whose names could not be ascertained.

Residents said the clash was spreading to the Sadda area where gunmen took positions on hilltops and fired shots at the Sadda civil colony.

Assistant Political Agent Dost Mohammad Khan said efforts were being made for a ceasefire between the two tribes.

He said that a jirga sent to the troubled area on Sunday had returned without making any breakthrough to stop the fight.
