LAHORE, Aug 30: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal President Qazi Husain Ahmad has appealed to the people to observe Sept 10 as the day of fundamental rights and civil liberties to express solidarity with the PML-N and other democratic forces.

In a press statement on Thursday, Qazi hailed the ‘historic’ decision announced by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan on Sept 10, saying the MMA would give the exiled leader a rousing welcome at the Islamabad airport and join his caravan to Lahore.

“We should make the day a memorable one in the country’s political history”, he said and added that the MMA would join the Sharifs in their struggle against the dictatorial regime.

He criticised the PPP leadership and hoped that the people would reject the party desirous of entering into a deal with the regime to strengthen Gen Pervez Musharraf. —Correspondent
