GUJRANWALA, Aug 30: An official of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed here on Thursday to have arrested more than 200 agents involved in human smuggling during the last three months.
FIA, Gujranwala, Additional Director Hussain Ashger said at a briefing at his office that the authority had recovered Rs200 million and several passports from these agents during a three-month campaign.
He said that FIA arrested 1,317 people who were deported from Greece and Turkey, adding that they were being interrogated.
He said that accused Sardar Iftikhar Malik, Shabbir Raja, Shakeel Rana, Javed Ahmad Khan, Adnan and Raja Anser were listed on the red book and that FIA was after them for the last several years.
He said that Rauf Ahmad, a union council nazim from Sialkot district, and owners of 12 travel agencies had also been arrested with 90 passports during the crackdown.
