KARACHI, Aug 28: The judicial magistrate-1, South, Aurangzeb Alamgir Qazi, on Tuesday remanded 17 activists of the Islami Jamiat Talba and seven of the Punjabi Students Association of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in judicial custody till Sept 5.

The court also remanded PSA activist Malik Saqib in police custody till Sept 1.

He is facing charges of killing IJT worker Farhan Butt. Another suspect in the murder case, Kamran alias Kami, is still at large.

The court granted bail to 12 PSA workers against surety bonds of Rs5,000 each.

Meanwhile, a student wounded in Saturday’s clash between two student groups at the JPMC died in the Civil Hospital early on Tuesday morning.
