KARACHI, Aug 21: A girl was injured by a campus shuttle in the University of Karachi on Tuesday. She was not a student of the university and had come to the campus to meet her sister, who studies in the chemistry department.

According to eyewitnesses, the girl, Abida, was hit by the vehicle while it was taking a turn.

But S.M. Khalid, head of the university’s transport system, narrated an altogether different story.

“It was not the fault of the driver as the girl tried to get off the bus while the vehicle was still moving,” he said. He refused to give the name of the driver involved in the accident.

The injured girl was taken to the doctor on the campus and then to Ibn-i-Sina Hospital. She had developed swelling on her head and had to be taken for a CT scan.

Many students have fallen prey to accidents either due to the over-speeding or overloading of campus shuttles.
