KARACHI, Aug 20: Fast bowler Mohammad Sami and batsmen Asim Kamal and Hasan Raza were named on Monday in the list of 27 probables for the Pakistan ‘A’ training camp which is being held in Lahore from Aug 28.
Junaid Zia, who played four One-day Internationals against Bangladesh in 2003 when his father Lt Gen Tauqir Zia headed the Pakistan Cricket Board, has also been called up for the camp.
After the camp winds up on Sept 2, the national selectors will pick the squad for the home series against Australia ‘A’.
Test batsman Faisal Iqbal will lead the Pakistan ‘A’ side in the two four-day fixtures which will be preceded by three one-day games against the Australians, who are led by Adam Voges.
Opener Khurram Manzoor who is sidelined by a wrist injury, will undergo a fitness test on Aug 31.
Meanwhile, four of the probables — Faisal, Hasan, Asim and Tahir Khan — are unlikely to be available for the Nissar Trophy match between Karachi Urban and Mumbai.
The four-day fixture between the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy champions and the Ranji Trophy winners takes place at the National Stadium in Karachi from Sept 8 to 11.
The limited-overs matches in the ‘A’ series are slated for Sept 5 (Lahore), Sept 7 (Sheikhupura) and Sept 8 (Lahore) with the four-dayers scheduled for Sept 12-15 (Faisalabad) and Sept 19-22 (Lahore).
