RATODERO (Larkana), Aug 20: A jirga was held in Khokhar village in the Naundero area on Sunday to settle a dispute between some police officers and a woman over the disappearance of her son after arrest.

Mehar Khatoon, wife of Mohammad Ibrahim Khokhar resident of Machi village near Naundero, has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court, Larkana circuit bench, regarding disappearance of her son Ali Akbar after his arrest. The court has directed the RPO of Sukkur and DPO Jacobabad Munir Khuhro to produce Ali Akbar Khokhar in the court. However, the DPO and the SHO of Mauladad police station of Jacobabad district, Mohammad Ibrahim Soomro, who has been arrested on court orders, have opted for an out of court settlement.

According to sources, the woman was represented by Abdul Qadir and the police officials by Azhar Kamario in the jirga which ordered them to ensure safe return of Akbar Khokhar with his licensed gun, besides imposing Rs700,000 fine on them. The jirga decided that after the implementation of the decision, the women would withdraw the petition.

Sources said that the police released the man on Monday who reached home and handed over the gun and also the fine amount to the jirga members.—PPI
