NOWSHERA, Aug 18: The civil judge of Nowshera sent five officials of the Punjab police to judicial lock-up on Saturday. The five policemen were arrested by the local police on the order of a local court on Friday.

Imtiaz Begum, wife of Qazi Saiful Malook, had filed an application in the court seeking arrest of the officials who, she alleged, had hurt her and her family in her house in a bid to kidnap her grandson, Qazi Samad.

The arrested policemen were identified as Rana Gulzar, in-charge of investigations for the Murad China Chowk police station, Sialkot, Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ashraf, Head Constable Manzoor Ahmad and constables Asif Nadeem and Sarfaraz Ahmad.

The civil judge rejected their application for bail and sent them to the judicial lock-up. They would be produced in the court on Aug 28 for next hearing of the case.
