LAHORE, Aug 12: High flood is likely in the Chenab at Marala during the next 24 hours, says a forecast by provincial chief meteorologist on Sunday.
According to the forecast, Chenab’s flow at Marala is likely to range between 200,000 to 300,000 cusecs.
According to the flood situation data, the Ravi at Balloki is in low flood, whereas River Kabul at Adezai is in medium flood. River Chitral is in high flood at Chitral.
Meanwhile, the rainfall graph during the past 24 hours shows Dir received 19mm rain, Saidu Sharif 15mm, Chakdara and Daggar 7mm each, and Sehrkakota received 1mm .rain.
The regional Met office has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in the NWFP, north Punjab and Kashmir.
The monsoon current from Arabian Sea is reaching Punjab up to 5,000 feet.
A strong westerly wave is moving across Malakand division, while a seasonal low is accentuated and affecting Balochistan and adjoining NWFP araes.
The country’s largest water reservoirs have almost attained the maximum storage levels. Tarbela has been filled up to 1,544 feet against a maximum capacity of 1,550 feet. Mangla has reached 1,199 feet against a capacity of 1,202 feet.
However, the dams’ level would remain within the safe limits, sources said.—APP
