KARACHI, Aug 11: An additional district and sessions judge, South, Mohammad Azeem, on Saturday directed the station house officer of the Defence police station to register a case against the alleged kidnapping of Shazia alias Sadia Kazmi as per the applicant’s statement.

The order came on an application filed by civil rights campaigner Syed Mohammad Iqbal Kazmi, son of Syed Iqtidar Kazmi, who had submitted it to the court of the district and sessions judge, South, Zaheeruddin S. Leghari, on Aug 9.The file was transferred to the court of the additional district and sessions judge-II, Mohammad Azeem. The judge had summoned the SHO on Aug 11, but he submitted a written explanation against the complaint of non-registration of an FIR.

He stated that Shazia alias Sadia Kazmi and her cousin Imran Shehzad, son of Mohammad Islam, came to the police station on Aug 1 and intended to go to hospital for treatment and the duty officer referred them to the JPMC with a police letter for medical examination and treatment. After that none of them came to the police station for lodging a report.

In their arguments, Iqbal Kazmi and his wife said that the police statement was false, adding that the police officials had simply refused to register the case. They said both

Sadia Kazmi and Mohammad Imran Shehzad visited the police station on Aug 1, Aug 2 and then on Aug 8, but they were paid no attention by the officials.

Mr Kazmi said he had also complained to Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Azhar Farooqui in the Sindh High Court building and he had also assured him about the registration of a case, but no action had been taken till Aug 11.
