KARACHI, Aug 7: Three-year-old chestnut colt Mr Mention Not is on course for a hat-trick should he land the days’ honours in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Wednesday.

The races have been brought forward from being held during the weekend to coincide with the next meeting on Independence Day that falls on Tuesday.

Mr Mention Not starts as our days’ best and seems certain to rule the field which had 10 acceptors barring last minute withdrawls. It is the top division race of class VII to be gone over five furlongs.

The colt had won the last two outings under different riders. First Nasir steered him to a two lengths win and later Mumtaz Ali piloted it home by five lengths. His likely challengers are bay mare Princess Rozi and colt Shah Pasand.

Four-year-old bay filly Sweet Smile is poised to make amends by claiming feature event, the last event of the programme. She has shown consistent form by occupying a place on the board in all her recent runs.

She is likely to be chased by filly Kat Mandu and bay horse Jack In The Box for places.

Making her appearance after a long layoff, three-year-old bay filly NYX is our fancy to pick up spoils in division II of class VII. However, she will have to overcome fillies Sweetie Pie and Green Rose. Another filly Symbol Of Love, if tried, can upset the applecart.

Colt Hal Chal should make amends of previous loss by crossing the finishing post ahead of rivals in the third race. With Interest and Make Millions may pose her serious challenge.

Mare Priceless from the stables of Pir Pagara should make it two on trot in the opener while filly Breaking News looks smart to pick up the next race. A card of six races has been drawn for the day. The first race starts at 2.30pm.
